Remember when you had the fairy tale belief that as soon as the kids were old enough to be out of diapers you could finally get a good night’s sleep? Somehow you had convinced yourself that once they were through a particular stage of childhood you were going to be home free.

Hello reality!

The reality is they are constantly entering a new stage of life. Each brings new challenges and once again a full night’s sleep eluded you. The truth is, we never stop parenting and there are always new concerns.

A recent USA Today Snapshot sited an interesting survey revealing the things parents lose sleep over worrying about their children.

Now I am not suggesting that we be unconcerned about some of these things because they are all legitimate. However, the scripture does give us direction on how to handle these concerns and worries. (By the way…I am preaching to myself.) I want to encourage you to check out some of the following verses and perhaps commit them to memory.

  • Luke 12:25-26
  • Philippians 4:6
  • 1 Peter 5:7
  • Matthew 6:31-32

Parenting is not a part-time job and it is definitely not for sissies or quitters. All of us need the insights of good and godly friends, the help of a church family and the truth of the Word of God to be able to accomplish what God intended for our families.
